In Love with the Sunrise

Sometimes inspiration can be elusive. There are days when the sky stays gray and I feel sunk in mindless routine. I look for what might lift me out of the gray.

It was Groundhog day last Friday and I thought of the movie, a classic. I watch it expecting to laugh, but I confess I also love that it is about falling down, getting up, falling down again and again and again until his heart cracks open. If we're lucky our lives are a little like that.

I have the privilege of being named after the sunrise. For many, the sunrise is a symbol of renewal. It marks the end of darkness and the beginning of light, a reminder that even after the deepest night, dawn will always break. It's a chance to start anew, to wash away the shadows of yesterday and embrace the possibilities of today.

The sunrise is also a powerful source of inspiration. It ignites the creative spark within us, urging us to chase our dreams and reach for the sun. It fuels our hopes and aspirations, reminding us that even the most impossible goals can be achieved with courage and perseverance. What are your forgotten dreams and aspirations? When did you last create something? The repeating sunrises remind us that it's never too late.

A beautiful sunrise connects us to something larger than ourselves, to the rhythm of nature and the vastness of the universe. It reminds us to look up from our phones, to gasp in awe. We stop our everyday. And just watch.

The site of the sunrise this morning took my breath away. It was one of those rare moments of wonder and amazement that has, briefly, made my life deeper, reminded me of purpose. It makes me want to turn the screens off and listen to music that moves me, read a complex and poignant story. Just for today I wish to nourish my spirit because my day started with astounding beauty. Like in the movie Groundhog Day my heart cracks open.
